Decades ago, feminist icon Gloria Steinem famously quipped, “A woman needs a man like a fish needs a bicycle.” How very clever, some thought. “You go, girl!” But the implications for our society were destructive, as that sentiment echoed on college campuses through the seventies and steamrolled across the continent thereafter. Men were blamed for every ill and every inequality in American life; masculinity was eventually labeled “toxic.” We descended into a veritable war on boys – to what end?
Classrooms became more feelings-centered, risk-averse, competition- free and sedentary, and many boys languished educationally and socially. It shouldn’t need to be said that a society should not single out any group for shame based on sex or race, but this is where the Left led us. This approach reached its nadir under the presidency (or “regime”) of Joe Biden, when both he and his FBI Director repeatedly, without evidence, declared that white men presented the biggest threat of domestic terrorism in this country. As bold masculinity waned, military recruiting dried up, and transgenders entered the ranks. It seemed the only males the Biden regime celebrated were men who thought they were women, wore women’s clothing, and competed against women in athletics!
Society cannot thrive when men are neutered. Society needs strong men. This fact captured the focus of our January speaker, Mike LeBlanc, author of the soon-to-be-released book What If Anger is the Answer?, which his publisher describes as “a bold framework for turning aggression into strength.” Mike LeBlanc recognizes the need for masculinity and - yes - the aggression that accompanies it. He draws upon lessons from ancient philosophy, military leadership, and Silicon Valley to deliver a framework for strength, purpose, and personal transformation.
What a welcome change in prespective from the previous 4-year nightmare! You will not want to miss this impressive leader share his stories and perspectives on January 22.
